Daniel (he/him/his) represents MK Law clients in litigation related to public interest matters, civil litigation, civil rights, and the Freedom of Information Act. Daniel has successfully litigated civil rights matters from pre-suit investigation to verdict, and has extensive experience representing organizations and members of the public in efforts to obtain public records from government bodies. He is also the Director of the First Defense Legal Aid Civil Rights Clinic, where he litigates individual damages and impact actions for clients impacted by policing and surveillance.
Daniel is active supporting movements combatting racist policing and carceral systems, and has written about encryption, privacy, policing, and civil liberties for outlets including The Atlantic, The Chicago Reader, Truthout, Mondoweiss, and PrivacySOS. Daniel has presented or spoken at fora including the American Association of Law Schools, Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, the Association of American Geographers, Loyola University, and the Public Interest Law Initiative.
Daniel was introduced to social movements by Occupy Chicago and likes dogs and Liverpool Football Club.
