Mariana started MK Law, LLC to provide high-quality legal services at affordable prices. Mariana's experiences as a law clerk in the Chancery Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County highlighted a need for civil legal services in Chicago. Unlike criminal law, where indigent parties are provided free legal representation, there is no similar guarantee for civil parties. This leaves many consumers unable to pursue their legal claims, especially in areas where fee-shifting may not apply.

Mariana has successfully advocated on behalf of consumer clients, whether it is settling matters in a matter of days or conducting full discovery and prevailing at trials. Mariana has also attended hundreds of real estate closings and successfully obtained property tax reductions for homeowners across Cook County.

Mariana volunteers as a Board member for First Defense Legal Aid. They have served on the boards of Latino Union of Chicago and West Town Bikes, as well as the Auditorium Theatre Auxiliary Board. Mariana likes dogs, bicycles and a good public library.
